General Winfield Scott’s Grave Re-Dedication

The Society of the Second War with Great Britain in the State of New York (SSWGBSNY) helped the State of New York Society of the United States Daughters of 1812 rededicate General Winfield Scott’s grave at West Point New York on April 5, 2014. Dr. Samuel Watson Professor of History at West spoke about the life and career of General Scott. State of New York Society of the United States Daughters of 1812 President Jan Johnpier was the master of ceremonies. Mary Linn Bird of the Daughters sang a beautiful rendition of America the Beautiful.

The event was a moving tribute to Old Fuss and Feathers.

The Daughters held their annual Officers Club dinner at the Thayer Hotel after the grave re-dedication. Robert J. Gang III, President of SSWGBSNY was presented The National Society United Daughters of 1812 Certificate of Award for Leadership and American History and the NSD 1812 History Medal at the dinner.
